I haven’t found any efficient repulsive stuff against mosquitoes yet. But one of my friends told to try lavander essential oil against the itching. It really works! It heals the itching very quickly as well as the scars. The best is to use an organic essential oil with a defined chemical type. I personally use Lavandula angustifolia. You can use it pure but you can also pour it in a vegetal oil or a cream. One drop is enough for several bites. It’s very powerful.
An easy way to make nice pictures is to photograph the sky at sunrise and sunset. But you need to prepare your shot.
CAUTION : NEVER PHOTOGRAPH THE SUN ITSELF.
It burns your eyes and it’s painless, but you end being blind forever. All the photos of the sun that you can see in the astronomy pages were made with a special filter.
If the sky is cloudy, it’s perfect. The colors will be even more fantastic. So, fisrt of all, you must know the local time of sunrise/sunset, not the legal time. You will find all the information you need in astronomy clubs or websites to calculate the right moment.
Then, depending on the season and on your location, you have to be ready more or less early. Itís up to you to test and find out the right time.
So, for a sunrise, you will make photos before the sun rises, and for a sunset, you will make photos just after the sun sets. Now be careful because it goes very fast. The light, the hues change continuously. And you will certainly make dozens of photos.
You need a tripod also for stability. Before the critical moment, make a few shots to be sure you’re in focus. It’s not so easy to photograph clouds… They’re not sharp objects.
As far as the lens is concerned, make your own tests. Some will prefer long focals, others, wide angles. It also depends on the landscape and on your gear.

Remember, when you notice flowers you find nice, let them where they are.
They can be protected, endangered, toxic… And anyway, they won’t last long.
I you really want to know what flower it is, take a book with you. There are lots of excellent ones in bookshops. You will soon learn to pay attention to the details that will help you identify the right plant.
And if you prefer to travel light, the best thing to do is… to take a picture or make a drawing.
When you want to record wild life moments, you enter another world. Your aim is to become invisible, inaudible and odorless. So, you have to pay attention to:
1- Clothes: synthetic garments tend to make a caracteristic noise that will warn animals (they have a better ear than us).
Wear local colors (clothes, shoes, back pack…): animals (even insects) don’t bother your presence if you move very slowly and you wear colors that fit in their environment. Anyway, you don’t go out to show off.
2- Odors : do not put after-shave, perfume or deo. If you sweat, use instead a potassium alum stone. It’s natural, safe for your health (contrary to aluminium stuff usually included in deos). And it’s very efficient.
3- Jewels: leave them at home. A cling-cling or a reflection will warm animals you’re here.
4- Noise: if you are with someone, it’s not the place to tell jokes or disclose personal problems. Speak in a low voice and only if required. Take your time. The faster you walk, the more you make noise.
You’re not running a marathon. So, enjoy the colors, hues, birds songs, etc, and you will notice unexpected subjects for your camera.
